Raglan rule the roost at rugby tournament

Raglan’s newly created tag rugby team dominated their first set of matches on Tuesday afternoon, taking maximum points from their first three games. However, it was not all peachy in the Raglan garden as they got off to a shaky start and conceded immediately after the referee had signalled the start of the first game. It was a high scoring affair as Raglan struck back from the restart and the match continued in this vein until Raglan’s defence finally began to settle and began blocking angles and runners to force turnovers and set up a solid platform for the attackers to play from. Only training together in the three days in the build up to the tournament was telling but they settle down well and at times produced some exceptional passages of passing team play & support runs, interspersed with flashes off individual brilliance. They peaked in the second game as the opposition didn’t score a try until there were only two minutes remaining on the clock, having already run in five tries themselves! Although the last game was another tight affair Raglan were never behind and can be very proud of their both their play and their conduct, well done kids!
